The New Us

So we've been working hard at making a new site design as well as a new blog design. (check it out here) We hope you all like it. We are excited to announce that weddings have been booking up for next year. Mind you it's not a ton but with time that will grow. We have a February, august and October wedding for this year and a wedding for the year of 2011. Each couple will be getting a free engagement shoot as that's what we offer with all of our packages

Also we have entirely revamped what we offer. We used to just offer one package that wasn't very versatile nor did it offer much of a choice to our clients. We have kept our old package and have built two other packages that both offer a bit more from the next.

You will also notice that our portfolio has been changed as well. Any weddings from here on out will retain a password and be locked to the general public so the Bride and Groom are able to have the first glance. However after photos are chosen we will take a few of our favorites from that wedding and add it to our weddings portfolio. This is so that future clients are able to see what we can offer. Also checking our journal will often offer a few sneak peaks.

Our agenda is as follows:

December 17, 18, 19 : Nutcracker show portraits
January/ February : Trash the dress session, or also known as Rock the dress.
February 13th: Savannah & Marks Wedding
August 14th: Dawn &  Nates Wedding
October 9th: Meredith Herrmann's Wedding.

Between those dates will have the engagement photoshoots for each couple.

We are excited to see how much we've grown in a year alone. We welcome new friends and clients. Please do not hesitate to get into contact with us. Click the contact us link at the top of our blog should you have any questions, requests or simply would like to talk.

Please enjoy our new look and what we offer. Feel free to make any suggestions.

Serenity Photography is our primary company but we have a stationery Subdivision. Impression Invitations is an event custom stationery store. Our main seller is o ur Program fans and have had approximately over 15 orders some go as far as Australia. Should you be looking for both a photographer and a stationery vendor please note you will get a 10% discount on both your Wedding package and your Stationery order.

August Weddings

Here are a few of my faves from the Obiso Wedding

Obiso Wedding : Sneak Peek

So here are a few of my favs from the weekend. This is just a sneak peek. The rest will be posted on our site.

Our First wedding shoot

I just thought I'd update everyone that we had our first Wedding gig yeasterday. It was a ton of fun but it was a busy day.

Something I learned from this wedding that I've heard before but never fully took in was that nothing will go as planned. Or at least certain parts. So to leave room for picture taking at different times. The getting ready part was a tad rushed but we got some beautiful pictures of the bride putting on her dress. While I would have loved to of gotten some pre ceremony pictures realistically it wasn't going to happen so there was no need to worry/ stress the bride out with those details. Rather get the shots you can and reniact or take more later :).

The ceremony was devine and it just brought back memories of our own wedding not to long ago. The one thing that never stopped was that shutter button :) We got a ton of pictures and will narrow it down to the best ones as I'm sure there are a few blurry ones.

Dave and Roxanne were such an amazing couple, their love showed in every picture, and in every gesture. They were soo kind to us and it seemed to really alleviate the overall stresses of your first wedding. They had fun with it and so did we. It was truly a well planned wedding and it was a lot of fun to watch and document.

We can only hope that we continue to get clients like these two. They will always remain our first though. Thank you Roxanne and Dave for taking a chance on the unknown. Even with the engagement photos not many would want to chance it. I assure you it all went well and we can't thank you enough.

Sneek Peeks will be shown tomorrow. The remaining pictures will be posted on my site probably by mid week.

Kindest regards,

Amanda & Paul

Hailey and Julia Photoshoot

My friend Julia and her first child Hailey came to me for a baby photoshoot. These two were a lot of fun to work with. A lot of natural light was used, soft tones and surrounded with lots of soft stuffed animals and clothing changes :) This was done at my house.

Enjoy :) To view the rest of these photos please go to Julia and Hailey's Photoshoot Album

Want a Unique Wedding Style. Please Consider this young lady!

While on facebook the ever so popular thing people are into these days. I came across a very talented young lady. Being someone who's entering the photography scene I know how important it is to have as many out there vouching for you.

I am astonished at her talent and her ideas. I am a person who loves creativity and this women is no exception to my rule :D

She does origami flowers among other foldings of that I'm sure. I had the pleasure of looking at her wedding photos where she did her own flowers in origami and the center pieces. So what are you waiting for. If your a bride who seeks to be unique this is definitly your thing. Ever hate having to find the flowers that match your colors? Well now you don't have to worry about how the dye will look on the flower you have your own perfect little origami flower.

But don't let me do all the talking let her work do the talking for her.

Take a look you won't be sorry you did. She has a few photos of what she's done thus far as well as links to where you can order these beautiful master pieces.

Nikon D90: A Christmas Wish Come True

This Christmas to my utter surprise my parents bought me a Nikon D90. I have been into photography for years but always felt held back with the camera I used for lighting reasons as well as resolution. I found a way to make it work but I always 'dreamed' of having that SLR camera. So when my parents bought me this camera I damn near cried. It not only shows that they have faith in my ability but that they were supporting something I have been taking seriously for many years now. I suppose you could say they will be reaping the benefits and already have when I took mounds of photos of my nephew this past Christmas. Their first grandchild and I couldn't put him down.

Life is full of surprises and this surprise was the best of them all (minus my engagement ;) )

I have done a few photos with my new camera and would enjoy your feedback. I'm still learning the ins and outs of the camera so my guess is it will take a year in order to get those truly professional shots. Point is we all need to start some where right :).

Many thanks to my supporters. You have helped drive this passion father than I could have ever expected. My gratitude to you all is endless.

Sincerely yours,

Amanda

FIrst Photoshoot with the Nikon D90

So after meddling with my camera and figuring out the ins and outs I was given my first opportunity to do a photo shoot of an amazing couple and two very dear friends who just got engaged this past christmas. Getting the D90 was perhaps one of the most special gifts I've received from anyone in my life. If any camera I thought that I may have been getting it was at maximum the D80 never did I think it would end up being the D90.

I was excited and ready to take some art photos. Trouble was there was no time nor was there anyone to test my camera on. So when this opportunity presented itself I became elated.

First thing I did was went online to gather a few posing ideas. We had one set back but something we could still work with and make it work was that the shots had to be done indoors because of everyone's schedules. While I would have loved to do it outside it presented me with my first challenge. Learning to work with all sources of light and learning to get the professional look without natures help.

Nate and Dawn were amazing to work with they made it a fun experience and alleviated any worries or stresses I may have had prior to the shoot. One thing that really helped was 1. having them bring a change of clothing so you're able to play with colors etc. and 2.A couple who was willing to just relax and have some fun. I find that's when the creative ideas start to come to mind not only from yourself but the couple may suggest something you may not have thought of.

What I found to be the best color for the indoors photos was actually black as it made their skin tones and the engagement ring pop. I must say the first bit was very trying on my part as I fumbled and tried to get that professional look. But we made it through and I have to say I'm rather happy with the results.

Thanks to my fiance I was able to portray the feeling and poses I was looking for by giving them an example instead of trying to 'force' them into position. You don't want to seem to pushiy and if you can have someone there who knows what your going to do to them and someone you can share the romantic part with helps a ton.

Nate and Dawn seemed like naturals and the love obviously was floating in the air. Both were glowing when they looked at eachother held eachother etc.

I tried the formal shots and some creative ones different angles and lighting changes. Also bringing them further away from the 'backdrop' and having them close up. Believe it or not I adored having them further away from the backdrop (which I really didn't notice till I reviewed the photos). The reason for that is that when they're further away I'm able to take flash shots and not have to worry about a sharp shadow immediately outlining them.

Be sure to keep your photoshoot fun and give them a bit of a break. I remember nate saying "My cheeks are getting sore" because we're friends I laughed and said 'tough' however when your with a client you have to be reminded that while your shooting the positions may not be comfortable for them and smiling may begin to hurt if you make them smile for a straight hour.

This was my first couple shot ever and i have to say I had a TON of fun doing this. Here are some of the engagement shots I did with a bit of an explanation as to how they were took lighting etc.
